Dr. Darren Schneider is a vascular specialist with expertise in minimally invasive procedures, interventional procedures and surgical interventions. He is recognized leader in advanced interventional and endovascular techniques for the treatment of aortic aneurysms and dissections, carotid artery disease, and lower and upper extremity vascular disorders. Clinical areas of expertise include evaluation and treatment of cerebrovascular disease, aneurysms, renovascular hypertension, claudication, and critical limb ischemia. He also performs thoracoscopic sympathectomy, a minimally invasive treatment for hyperhydrosis.He is the lead investigator on several clinical trials, including use of carotid artery stents for prevention of stroke, endovascular stent grafts for treatment of complex abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, and stent grafts for treatment of lower extremity artery blockages. Dr. Schneider also directs an active laboratory research program focused on the development of stem cell therapy for the treatment of limb-threatening vascular disorders.
Dr. Schneider earned a medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency in surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, where he also completed an integrated fellowship in vascular and endovascular surgery and interventional radiology. Schneider is an assistant professor of surgery and radiology at UCSF.
